Symptoms
Temperature gauge climbs when towing or climbing hills, coolant loss, steam from the engine bay.
Likely cause
Blocked radiator core, failed viscous fan coupling, sticking thermostat or head gasket failure.
Suggested fixes
Listed roughly in the order most owners try them.
- 1
Check the viscous fan coupling
With the engine hot and stopped, the fan should resist turning by hand. If it spins freely, replace the coupling.
